Happy Thanksgiving!

I am sure that we all know why we celebrate Thanksgiving. The Pilgrims thanked God for bringing them out of the starvation that was in the land, and since they were out of England, they could thank God the way they wanted! They had a big feast that lasted for days! Yum.

But I have always wondered if the Bible supports Thanksgiving. Lets see…

Psalms 95:1-3, “Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song. For the Lord is the great God, the great King above all gods.”

Psalms 100:1-5, “Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.”

1 Corinthians 10:16, “Is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we give thanks a participation in the blood of Christ? And is not the bread that we break a participation in the body of Christ?”

Philippians 4:6-7, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Cool! Philippians 4:6-7 is amazing! The peace of God will guard your heart and your mind in Jesus Christ but only if we go to Him in prayer, petition and with thanksgiving.

Well, I hope this post made sense to you all. What did you think about this post? Please, let me know!

Be light and salt to the world

Recently, I have been listing to one of my favorite songs called “One-Armed Man”, and it is done by the Christian band, Project 86. The message they are trying to get out is that people in the world need something real, like Jesus.

Everyday, I see people who sit on the fence, trying to figure out if the want to go with there “friends” into the world. Sadly most people have already slid down the fence to the world’s territory, but there is still hope for them to repent of there sins and come to Christ. Everyday, I see opportunities to tell people about Jesus Christ!

The Bible talks about how we are supposed to be a light in the darkness and salt to the world, and that God is our Light and our Savior!

2 Samuel 22:29, “You are my lamp, O Lord; the Lord turns my darkness into light.”

Psalms 18:28, “You, O Lord, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light.”

Psalms 56:13, “For you have delivered me from death and my feet from stumbling, that I may walk before God in the light of life.”

Psalms 119:105, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.”

Isaiah 2:5, “Come, O house of Jacob, let us walk in the light of the Lord.”

Isaiah 53:11, “After the suffering of his soul, he will see the light of life and be satisfied; by his knowledge my righteous servant will justify many, and he will bear their iniquities.”

Isaiah 60:19, “The sun will no more be your light by day, nor will the brightness of the moon shine on you, for the Lord will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory.”

Micah 7:8-9, “Do not gloat over me, my enemy! Though I have fallen, I will rise. Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light.

Because I have sinned against him, I will bear the Lord’s wrath, until he pleads my case and establishes my right. He will bring me out into the light; I will see his righteousness.”

Matthew 5:13-16, “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness , how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.

You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden.

Nether do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to every one in the house.

In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.”

Psalms 27:1-2, “The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life, of whom shall I be afraid?

When evil men advance against me to devourer my flesh, when my enemies and my foes
attack me, they will stumble and fall.”

Isaiah 49:6, “He says: “It is too small a thing for you to be my servant to restore the tribes of Jacob and bring back those of Israel I have kept. I will also make you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring my salvation to the ends of the earth.”

Wow! That is amazing! I guess the Bible is very serious about sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with people, and being light and salt to the world! That is a big job, but it will be exciting and enjoyable if you have a deep passion for Christ!

I don’t know about you, but I am ready to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with everybody I meet!

What did you think about this post? Please let me know.

P.S. The verses I listed are just a small fraction of all the verses that talk about being the light and the salt to the earth. I thought that if you are really interested in this subject, you will look the rest of them up.

The human tongue

My favorite part of the human body is the tongue. Why? Well, because we can taste ice cream, chocolate chips, and the list goes on! Although there are a few exceptions, such as squash, mushrooms, ect.

Did you know that there are two senses for the human tongue? The spiritual sense and the physical sense. I am going to try to explain what I mean in this post.

I would like to begin by looking at the dictionary’s definition for the word “tongue”.

1. fleshy organ inside mouth: the movable fleshy organ attached to the bottom of the inside of the mouth of humans and most animals, used for tasting, licking, swallowing, and, in humans, speech. Technical name glossa (sense 1)

2. animal's tongue as food: the tongue of an animal, especially a cow, used as food

3. language: a language or dialect

4. way of speaking: somebody's manner of speaking. She can have a sharp tongue when she's annoyed.

5. ability to speak: the power of speech. She was so overwhelmed her tongue deserted her.

That is cool.

Now lets look at my science book and see what it says.

Lets begin by discussing the four basic senses of taste: sweat, salty, sour, and bitter. I think we all have experienced all four of those tastes!

Now the question is, “how do we taste?” Well, all over you tongue are little bumps called papillae, and some of them have tiny holes called taste pores. That leads to a microscopic clusters of cells called taste buds. These cells have super small “hairs” that are sensitive to certain chemicals. When the taste buds detect those chemicals in your saliva, they send signals down the sensory nerves in the tongue to your cerebrum. Your brain then gives you the sense of “taste”, which (as you all know) could be good or bad, depending on the chemicals in your saliva.

And that all happens less than one hundredth of a second! Now if evolution is true how could this complex tongue have evolved? It could not. Only a Creator could have created that!

Well, we just looked at the physical sense of the word “tongue”. Now, lets look at the spiritual sense.

The bible talks about how the tongue can hurt others:
Psalms 5:9, “Not a word from their mouth can be trusted; their heart is filled with destruction. Their throat is an open grave; with their tongue they speak deceit.”

Psalms 52:2-4, “Your tongue plots destruction; it is like a sharpened razor, you who practice deceit.

You love evil rather than good, falsehood rather than speaking the truth.

You love every harmful word, O you deceitful tongue!”

Proverbs 26: 28, “A lying tongue hates those it hurts, and a flattering mouth works ruin.”

It all so talks about how the tongue can heal, how God hates a deceitful tongue, and that you should keep your tongue from speaking evil and to speak righteousness:

Psalms 34:13, “Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking lies.”

Psalms 37:30, “The mouth of the righteous man utters wisdom, and his tongue speaks what is just.”

Psalms 39:1, “I said, “I will watch my ways and keep my tongue from sin; I will put a muzzle on my mouth as long as the wicked are in my presence.”

Psalms 51:14, “Save me from bloodguilt, O God, and God who saves me, and my tongue will sing of your righteousness.”

Proverbs 10:19, “When words are many, sin is not absent, but he who holds his tongue is wise.”

Proverbs 12:18, “Reckless words pierce like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.”

Wow! That is amazing! The tongue can be reckless and it can also be healing! I think we all have experienced that both ways.

I don’t know about you, but I don’t my words to destroy others. I want to be like Psalms 39:1, and the second part of Proverbs 12:18.

There are a lot more verses on this subject, and I did not write them all down because I thought that if you were really interested about it, you would look them up.

What did you think? Please, let me know.

The Human Brain

Recently, I have been reading the last chapter in my science book. It is titled, “Exploring Creation with General Science.”

Anyway, it is discussing the human brain! I am sure you are wondering why I am talking about the brain. I want to discuss the fact that if evolution was true we all would have died or have been severely hurt!

I would like to begin by looking up the word “brain” in the dictionary…

1. organ of thought and feeling: the controlling center of the nervous system in vertebrates, connected to the spinal cord and enclosed in the cranium.
It consists of a mass of nerve tissue, nerve supporting and nourishing tissue called neuralgia. It is the center of thought and emotions, and regulates bodily activities.

2. center of invertebrate nervous system: a nervous-system center in some invertebrates that is functionally similar to the brain in vertebrates

3. mind: somebody's intellectual ability He's got a good brain.

4. intelligence: somebody's natural intelligence (usually used in the plural) She's got brains as well as beauty.

5. somebody intelligent: somebody very intelligent (informal)

6. most intelligent person in group: the person in a group who is considered the most intelligent and who devises plans or strategies for it (informal) (usually used in the plural) Lee's the brains of the family.

Hmmmm, interesting. Now, lets look at what my science book says.

I am going to start by talking about the nervous system. As you know, the brain is connected to your back bone which is connected to all the nerves in your body.

Now there are two types of nervous systems: Peripheral Nervous System (PNS) and the Central Nervous System (CNS).

The PNS is responsible for receiving and sending signals to and from the brain and spinal cord. The CNS is composed of both brain and spinal cord, and it would absolutely be useless without the PNS! Why? Well, they both receive and send messages to and from each other from the body and the brain.

Now lets think for a minute, if our nervous systems evolved we would be in trouble! Why? Well, because if one is more evolved then the other the system would not work! That would lead to disaster!

Now lets look a special fluid called Cerebrospinal fluid, that is in your skull and in between all the vertebras in your back bone. What is so special about this liquid? Well, it is like a special solution. For instance, your brain is held in your skull by that liquid, and it acts like a shock absorber when you get hit on the head! Cool, uh? It also helps cushion the back bone.

If we evolved, we all would have died or have gotten sever brain and backbone damage with out the Cerebrospinal fluid protecting your brain and backbone! You could not control certain parts of your body if you backbone is broken in certain places, because you could not send signals to your brain!

A cerebellum is connected to the back of your brain next to your brain stem. What is so special about it? Well, it plays a large roll in muscle movement, and the most important job it does is helping you keep your balance! So, if your cerebellum evolved you would stagger around like a guy who had one to many bottles of beer! Even animals need cerebellum.

Here is a test: What farm animals stand perfectly on one foot for a long time? Answer: Chicken. Yes, the chicken. I have tried to see if I could beat them in a standing contest twice, and…the stupid chicken won!

The brain stem is a very important part of the body as well. It controls your breathing, heart rate, and the blood pressure! When I read that I said to my self, “ If we evolved we would have died!” Why? Well, think about it. If you can’t breath - you die. If your heart is pumping to much or to little blood your blood presser would not be correct!

The verses I have for this post are from Genesis.

Genesis 1:27, “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.”

Genesis 5:2, “He created them male and female and blessed them. And when they were created, he called them “Man”.”

What do you think? Let me know.

I found this little study fascinating because without the Designer the whole world would be in utter chaos! What do you think? Let me know.

“Remember to give glory to the One who authored nature.” A quote from Robert Boyle, the founder of modern chemistry.
